Dogwood Critter Care, formerly known as Pet Care By Eli has been serving Boone, NC and surrounding communities since 2018. Dogwood Critter Care is a labor of love owned and operated by Eli Chamberlain.
Eli and their team are passionate about individualized pet care, training, and enrichment. Boarding is often a ‘one size fits all’ solution for pet care. Each dog is unique and has different needs for comfort and safety. We aim to provide a stress free pet care experience for you and your pets, tailored to their specific needs. You can travel and know that your critters are well cared for and comfortable with Dogwood Critter Care.
Eli is a professional dog trainer, (CPDT-KA,) certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, Inc. Eli has been caring for pets professionally for 5 years now and trains with Positive Partners Dog Training, LLC. Dogwood Critter Care is bonded and insured, as well as a member of Pet Sitters International. Eli Chamberlain is a Fear Free Certified Professional.

We’re not just pet sitters and dog walkers, we are passionate pet care pros. We do this for a living, we love what we do, and we go to work every day excited to spend time with and care for your best friends!
We go above and beyond to ensure that we are your go to pet care provider. We prioritize continuing education opportunities for our team. Every team member is trained and certified in Dog and Cat CPR and First Aid. Eli is trained and certified in Dog, Cat, and Reptile CPR and First Aid.
Our team comes from a variety of animal behavior and medical backgrounds. With this experience and expertise, we are proud to say that we specialize in senior pets, pets with high medical needs, and pets with high behavioral needs. Your pets are our passion!
Meet Eli
I moved to Boone in 2016 to attend Appalachian State and like many before me, fell in love with the area and never left. I have worked at several of the top boarding facilities in the area, before briefly dabbling in grooming, then finally jumping head first into training. During that time I began to build my pet sitting business on the side just to fill a need of co-workers and friends. From there it grew and grew, strictly by word of mouth. In 2021, I realized it had become a sustainable venture, far more than just a side gig, that there was a need for. The rest is history.
I graduated with my B.S. in Psychology from Appalachian State University, December 2022! I’m a professional dog trainer, (CPDT-KA,) certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, Inc. I train with Positive Partners Dog Training, LLC. I currently have four dogs and three cats. I am committed to continuing my education. I believe we are all life long learners. I am passionate about pet care, training, and enrichment. I see boarding as a ‘one size fits all’ solution for pet care. Each dog is unique and has different needs for comfort and safety. I aim to provide a stress free pet care experience for you and your pets, tailored to their specific needs. Jordan
Team Lead Pet Care Specialist
Jordan is an App State student graduating in December 2023 with his Bachelor’s in Sustainable Tech! He has worked in a veterinary setting for 5 years and been with us since March 2023! He has a playful kitten named Tilly. Jordan really enjoys caring for happy, well-loved, well cared for animals and values all of the love and hard work that goes into that. In his free time, he likes to play video games, collect movies/books/antiques, and loves to tinker.
Bruce
Pet Care Specialist
Bruce has been working with dogs for about 5 years now, both training and care. Bruce is an essential member of the team, being both a hands on caretaker and keeping the show running behind the scenes. Bruce values making connections with your pet, understanding their unique personality, and believes connecting with them and building rapport is the key to caring for them.

All team members are background checked and have extensive experience with animals before they join our team. From there team members go through extensive training to meet our high standards of care. Our pet care professionals know the ins and outs of dog and cat behavior as well as pet CPR and first aid.
